This page provides general information about compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide. It does not replace an individualized medical evaluation or the informed-consent form completed through the secure patient portal.

1. Compounded Medication Status

Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide are prepared for an individual patient pursuant to a prescription when medically appropriate.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, quality, or accurate labeling before they are marketed. Their concentration, inactive ingredients, packaging, and dosing instructions may differ from FDA-approved products.

Compounded medication should be used only as prescribed and obtained from the pharmacy selected for the individual prescription.

2. Medical Evaluation

Before treatment, Amanda Walrath, APRN, FNP-C, will review your medical and surgical history, current medications and allergies, weight-management goals, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, personal and family history, and potential risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Receiving a consultation does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed.

3. Treatment and Dosing

Semaglutide acts primarily through the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide acts through both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. These medications may reduce appetite, increase feelings of fullness, and slow stomach emptying.

Your dose and schedule will be individualized. Medication concentrations and syringe measurements can vary between compounded products.

Use only the syringe and written dosing instructions provided for your prescription. Do not convert milligrams, milliliters, or syringe units yourself. Do not increase, repeat, or combine doses unless specifically directed by your provider.

4. Possible Benefits

Potential benefits may include reduced appetite, improved satiety, and support for weight management when treatment is combined with appropriate nutrition, activity, and clinical follow-up.

Individual responses vary. No particular amount or rate of weight loss is guaranteed.

5. Common Side Effects

Possible side effects include nausea or vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, abdominal discomfort, bloating or indigestion, reduced appetite, headache, fatigue, dizziness, and injection-site reactions.

6. Serious Risks

Serious complications may include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, dehydration and kidney injury, severe gastrointestinal symptoms or delayed stomach emptying, low blood sugar particularly when used with insulin or certain diabetes medications, serious allergic reactions, worsening diabetic eye disease in some patients with diabetes, and thyroid C-cell tumors observed in animal studies with uncertain relevance to humans.

Seek emergency care for difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, fainting, severe or persistent abdominal pain, uncontrollable vomiting, severe dehydration, confusion, or other symptoms that may represent an emergency.

7. When Treatment May Not Be Appropriate

Tell your provider before treatment if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding; have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma; have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2; have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide, tirzepatide, or any ingredient; have a history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, severe gastrointestinal disease, or gastroparesis; have diabetes or diabetic retinopathy; take medication that can cause low blood sugar; take another GLP-1 or GIP/GLP-1 medication; or take oral medication whose absorption may be affected by delayed stomach emptying.

Tirzepatide may reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraceptives after starting treatment or increasing the dose. Discuss appropriate contraceptive options with your provider.

8. Pregnancy

Weight-loss medication should not be used during pregnancy. Notify Nuvo Wellness & Health immediately if you become pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Your provider will advise you about discontinuation and appropriate timing before a planned pregnancy.

9. Alternatives

Alternatives may include nutrition and physical-activity changes without medication, FDA-approved weight-management medication, other prescription treatments, referral to another clinician or specialist, bariatric evaluation when appropriate, or no treatment.

10. Medication Handling

Store and use medication according to the pharmacy label. Do not use medication that is expired, appears damaged or contaminated, was stored incorrectly, or differs from what you expected.

Never share medication or injection supplies. Dispose of needles in an appropriate sharps container.

11. Follow-Up and Communication

Attend recommended follow-up visits and provide accurate information about medications, side effects, health changes, and treatment response.

For urgent symptoms, seek urgent medical care. For emergencies, call 911.

12. Patient Acknowledgment

Before treatment, the patient will be asked to acknowledge through the secure patient portal that they received an opportunity to ask questions; understand compounded medication is not FDA-approved; understand the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives; understand that results are not guaranteed; agree to follow their individualized prescription and dosing instructions; and consent voluntarily.

A patient may withdraw consent by notifying the provider.
