Telehealth weight loss in Vero Beach gives Indian River County adults a way to work with a Florida-licensed clinician on medical weight loss without adding another drive and waiting room to the week. Whether you live on the barrier island, out west of I-95, or you're here for the winter season, the questions are usually the same: Is online care thorough? Who is it right for? And what should you look for in a provider?

I'm Amanda Walrath, APRN, FNP-BC, a Florida-licensed, board-certified family nurse practitioner with 17 years of clinical experience and the founder of Nuvo Wellness and Health. I started Nuvo after my own weight-loss struggle after having kids, and I've taken the same medication I offer, so I understand both the clinical side and what the day-to-day really feels like. Nuvo is based in Stuart, just down the Treasure Coast, and all of our care happens by telehealth.

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved, and they are not the same as, equivalent to, or generic versions of any brand-name medication. Whether treatment is appropriate for you is decided by a clinical evaluation. Individual results vary.

Who telehealth weight loss in Vero Beach works well for

Vero Beach and the surrounding Indian River County communities include working families, healthcare and hospitality workers with shifting schedules, retirees, and seasonal residents. Telehealth fits many of these routines:

–Busy schedules. Visits happen by secure video from home, work or wherever you have privacy and a good connection. Nuvo's hours are Monday through Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 2.
–Privacy. Weight is personal. Many people find it easier to talk openly about their history and goals from their own living room.
–Ongoing support without the commute. Follow-ups happen by telehealth whenever you need one or at refill time, so questions don't have to wait for a scheduled office slot.
–Medication at your door. If treatment is appropriate, your medication ships overnight, cold-packed, by FedEx.

Telehealth is not a shortcut around a real medical evaluation. A good virtual visit should be thorough and should end with a clear, honest answer about whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Seasonal residents: what to know before starting GLP-1 care

Plenty of people split their year between Indian River County and another state. Because Nuvo is a Florida-only practice and I'm licensed in Florida, your telehealth visits need to take place while you're located in Florida. If you travel north for part of the year, tell me during your consultation so we can plan around it honestly, including how refills and shipping fit your schedule, rather than discovering a gap later.

Weekly injections also need to stay refrigerated, so travel takes a little planning. Our holiday eating and travel post and Nuvo's GLP-1 Patient Guide cover storage and traveling with your medication in more detail.

What to look for in an online weight loss provider in Florida

Not every online weight-loss program works the same way. Whether you choose Nuvo or someone else, these are reasonable questions to ask:

1.Is the prescriber licensed in Florida? You should know exactly who is evaluating you and their credentials.
2.Is there a real clinical evaluation? A responsible provider reviews your health history, current medications and risk factors before prescribing, and is willing to say no.
3.Is pricing clear? Ask what is included, whether there is a monthly membership, and what happens at refill time.
4.Is follow-up included? Side effects and dose questions come up, especially early on. Find out how you reach someone and how quickly.
5.Are medications described honestly? Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and a provider should say so plainly.

Telehealth weight loss pricing for Vero Beach patients

Nuvo is cash-pay with no monthly membership. The initial consultation is complimentary. If treatment is appropriate after your clinical evaluation, pricing is per vial:

Medication
Vial
Price
Compounded semaglutide (2.5 mg/mL)
4 mL (10 mg), lasts about 12 weeks depending on dose
$400 per vial
Compounded tirzepatide (15 mg/mL)
4 mL (60 mg), lasts about 12 weeks depending on dose
$500 per vial

Medication, supplies, shipping and ongoing follow-up are included. How long a vial lasts depends on your prescribed dose, and dose changes happen only when your provider directs them.

Florida heat, delivery and staying active on GLP-1 medication

Living on the Treasure Coast brings a few practical considerations that I talk through with patients:

–Bring your delivery inside promptly. Medication arrives cold-packed overnight. Put the vial in the refrigerator as soon as it arrives, never in the freezer, and never leave it in a hot car.
–Hydrate on purpose. GLP-1 medications can reduce appetite and thirst cues, and Florida heat adds to fluid loss. Dehydration can make nausea worse and can affect your kidneys, so sip fluids steadily through the day.
–Move at cooler times. Early-morning or evening walks, biking or swimming are easier to stick with than midday exercise in the heat.
–Protect your muscle. Eating enough protein and adding some strength training matters while you're eating less. Our exercise and strength training post covers this in more depth.

Safety considerations, especially for older adults

Many Vero Beach adults are managing other health conditions and several prescriptions, which is exactly why the evaluation matters. GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP medications are generally not appropriate for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2), or for people who are pregnant or planning pregnancy. A history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease or kidney problems, and use of insulin or other diabetes medications that can lower blood sugar, all need a careful conversation with your provider before starting.

The most common side effects are digestive, such as nausea, decreased appetite, constipation, diarrhea or heartburn, and they are often most noticeable after starting or increasing a dose. Contact your provider, or seek urgent care, for severe or persistent abdominal pain, vomiting that won't stop, signs of dehydration, yellowing of the skin or eyes, a lump or swelling in the neck, or signs of an allergic reaction.
